Saying Goodbye to our Golden Retriever baby "Summer" (2/7/20) Blog post 28

I woke to find one of the dogs had vomitted atleast 5-6 times during the night. Then one after another, Summer kept vomitting, within 30 minutes she had vomitted 3 more times. Neil was able to get her outside where she vomitted atleast 7 more times.

Neil was at the point now that it was easier for him to just pick her up and carry her into the RV.

I called and made an appointment to take her into the Vet's.

It was one of hardest decisions we had to make, but we knew we could not let her suffer anymore.

I know it was the right thing to do, but it hurt to make the decision.

The people at the Vet's were so nice to us. We got to stay with her until it was time, and then they called us back when she was at peace. They had this room that is especially for grieving. They had her laid out on a blanket covered. She looked at peace. Before we left they presented us with an imprint of her paw.

On the way to the truck, we were loading the gurney and the wagon in the truck, and I found one of her nails. Summer hated and I mean hated to be groomed, especially her nails.  I placed the Nail in the box with her paw imprint. It will be mailed it to Allison in Alaska, because Summer was her dog.

This had truly been a sad sad day!
