Ponderosa Falls RV Resort, Cheney WA (7/10/20 - 7/24/20) Blog post 97

The drive from Ellensburg, WA to Cheney, WA took just under 3 hours. Once we arrived and received our site number, the next few hours did not go so well. We were first given wrong directions, which led us down many different roads, some a little narrow. After we got turned around, a camp worker attempted to help us, which ended with me scraping the left top part of the RV on a tree (see in separate blog post).  On several occasions we have encountered a herd of Guinea fowl/chickens. They even blocked us on the street when we were leaving the park, and on the same day when we arrived back at the park. We each took a turn, herding them out of the way. I also found the "falls" at Ponderosa Falls park. It is part of the miniature golf course here at the park. Was out for my morning walk, when I came upon this rock someone left, but they left no information to tag them in.

Vent Cover installed (7/13/20) Blog post 96

Image
Neil climbed up on the roof to install our 2nd vent cover. Our 1st vent cover was installed over the bathroom vent after the Hail storm in La Pine, Oregon broke our plastic cover. Did not have the right size vent cover for the kitchen vent at that time. Once we were at a location long enough to get Amazon, Neil placed order.  Hopefully he won't have to go back on the roof for some time.

Hike Palisades Park, Spokane County, WA (7/11/20) Blog post 95

Image
We hiked one of the many trails in the Palisades Park. Saw a unique pod looking Leaf on the ground and then a whole bush full and more bushes. Very interesting. The trail was parallel to the Indian Canyon Creek. Had to take a short but slightly steep hill to get down to the water. Also saw a slightly larger than a golf ball size dandelion puff ball seeds. Though it was around 80 degrees out, it was still so nice to get out into nature.

6 months of full time Rving (7/15/20) Blog post 94

Today, July 15, 2020, marks exactly 6 months since Neil and I embarked on our new Journey of being Fulltime Rver’s. The first couple months were by far the toughest for us. We were learning how to be full time rvers with our 3 Golden retrievers, but within 2.5 months of beginning our adventure, one by one we lost each of our Golden girls. This was my view, that gave me comfort, when I was dealing with the grief of losing all our girls.  Our nest had just become empty of our daughter in 8/2019, and now our nest is empty of our fur babies. Covid-19 stay at home order came around the same time as Autumn’s death. We were in Bass Lake, CA for 21 days, which allowed us the time to grieve and reflect on our future. When we set out on our adventure, our plan was to take a gap year to travel the US and Canada, but soon learned that we had fallen in love with the fulltime Lifestyle. Though Covid-19 has definitely put a kink in some of our plans, such as not being able to go to Yosemite or Crater

2nd accident with RV due to tail swing (7/10/20 ) Blog post 93

Arrived at the Ponderosa Falls RV resort.  The instructions given on how to get to our site was given incorrectly. We went down the wrong lane. Now we are trying to figure out how to get around this narrow corner to go back the way we came to find our site. Turned down another wrong lane, blocking cars trying to get out. Backed RV back up and then got us going down another lane heading to our site. Still could not find it. Finally Neil went looking for it on foot. As he was coming back, a very nice older camp worker attempted to assist us. Then the park foreman came to help us. After about 10 minutes we were finally on the road where our site was located. The site was a backin site, and there was a road directly in front which meant all we had to do was make a right on to the road and back straight up. The older camp worker was trying to help by telling me which way to turn and when to start turning. I said there is tail swing and I need to pull more forward. He told me "no you ar

Ellensburg, Washington- KOA, Yakima River, bike ride (7/8/20); Blog post 92

We arrived at the KOA in Ellensburg, Washington, our home for the next 3 days. This KOA is right off the 90 highway. It is a perfect location for those doing a 1 night stop over. The park is right on the Yakima river, though there is no swimming, tubing, kayaking allowed. The water is really too cold for swimming anyways. Our first day here (7/7/20), we took a walk down to the river. I learned how cold the water was when I decided to go in the water ankle deep. I think I lasted about 3 minutes before everything was numb. On 7/8/20 we put our bikes on the truck and drove to the only bike trail we could find in Ellensburg. The bike trail begins and ends at the Ellensburg Rodeo.  The bike path starts on a very very very rocky path. After about 1 mile of this path, we ventured out onto side streets of downtown Ellensburg. Again we learned that the people of Washington are not as friendly to bike riders as in Oregon.  Later that day, we ventured back to the river where I was able to entice
