6 months of full time Rving (7/15/20) Blog post 94

Today, July 15, 2020, marks exactly 6 months since Neil and I embarked on our new Journey of being Fulltime Rver’s. The first couple months were by far the toughest for us. We were learning how to be full time rvers with our 3 Golden retrievers, but within 2.5 months of beginning our adventure, one by one we lost each of our Golden girls.

This was my view, that gave me comfort, when I was dealing with the grief of losing all our girls.

Our nest had just become empty of our daughter in 8/2019, and now our nest is empty of our fur babies.

Covid-19 stay at home order came around the same time as Autumn’s death. We were in Bass Lake, CA for 21 days, which allowed us the time to grieve and reflect on our future.

When we set out on our adventure, our plan was to take a gap year to travel the US and Canada, but soon learned that we had fallen in love with the fulltime Lifestyle. Though Covid-19 has definitely put a kink in some of our plans, such as not being able to go to Yosemite or Crater Lake due to closures, we were able to find so many other great places to explore.

The roads that take us to great places

            Mt. St. Helens

                                                                                    Mt. Bailey

Our views change from week to week. Some weeks, we have mountains and forests as our view and some weeks we have soothing rivers, streams or creeks.

Every day we learn something new. We still watch you-tube videos of veteran Rvers sharing their years of experience.

We have definitely had our share of incidents. I personally have done damage to our right middle stabilizer, and as of a few days ago, scratches on the left back plastic cap from scraping a tree from tail swing. At the time of the incidents I did not view them as lessons to be learned from, but today I can.

Where will our adventure go from here? We will head into Montana towards the end of July. We will spend several weeks exploring Montana before we head to Idaho, Wyoming and then on to Colorado. We will be in Colorado in September.

We will start discussing what comes after Colorado. With the no immediate end in sight for the pandemic, we are questioning the holidays. Family gatherings just seem too risky for those family members that are in a higher age category, and for those family members who have low immune responses.

The other issue we are discussing is changing our domicile to either Florida, Texas, or South Dakota. We are leaning more towards Florida, since they seem to be the only state that offers Nationwide health insurance to fulltime rvers, which would save us so much money instead of having to pay for Kaiser. But that means we would have to travel to Florida to get Florida Driver licenses and register both the truck and rv to Florida, so we would not be taxed by California.

A few months back, we discussed changing our Instagram and Facebook name to "Wolfs off Leash". It only took 4 months for us to come up with a name, and then collaborating over our logo. After several drawings, and then painting it, we have our logo that we are happy with. Though I am a perfectionist, I think I can still make it better, but for now, it is hung up right when we walk into the RV. I have another project in mind for our logo, but I will share that later if I do it.

My first attempt at drawing our
"Wolfs off Leash" Logo

My 3rd drawing. It is the best (so far)
