Larkspur, Colorado (10/10 - 10/11/20) Blog post 125

After spending 3 days in Wyoming, we traveled back to Larkspur, Colorado. We are staying at the huge Jellystone RV park. We arrived to learn that I had made the reservation with the wrong dates- 3 days off. The staff was so nice and helpful with accommodating us 3 days early. Because of my error, we ended up with a back in rather than a pull thru. We don't mind backin's, we just prefer pull thru's with our 41.3ft 5th wheel.  The Jellystone park is a very nice, huge park. It is geared more for families. When you first pull up, it feels like you are driving to the entrance of an amusement park. They have 3 lanes to check in. You pull up to the booth, where a person checks you in, and then a staffer appears in a golf cart to escort you to your site, which is absolutely necessary because of the size of this park. They have a huge bounce pad, water park, pool, and more. Many of the amenities were closed due to covid, but the pool was open as well as the bounce pad. What entert

Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorials (9/24/20) Blog post 124

Still needing to put miles on our brand new 2020 Ford F-350 dually, we drove to Mount Rushmore and then Crazy Horse. I feel that these places are a must see at least once in your lifetime, like the Grand Canyons or Yellowstone.  We first arrived at Mount Rushmore. There was quite a bit of construction going on, which created a lot of confusion of  where to go to find the entrance. It cost $10 to park via kiosk, but the gates were open and there was no one collecting the tickets. There are hiking trails closer to the memorial if one is interested. After Mount Rushmore, we headed to Crazy Horse. I believe it costed $20 to visit. There is a very nice viewing deck that allows great views of the memorial. There are also native indians giving demostrations. There are interesting facts about the memorial measurements, and a replica of what the memorial will look like when it is completed. We were able to get a great picture of the mountain where the outline of the horse will be. Here, if one

Bike ride Founders Park, Rapid City, South Dakota (10/3 & 10/4/20) Blog post 123

We found this very nice park with cemented bike/walking paths, that parallel the Rapid Creek. We came across a lot of ducks. We had such a great bike ride that we decided to go back the next day to take another path.  The day before we left South Dakota, we took a walk to Mc Donald's farm next to the Rushmore Shadows rv park. Though they were closed, we were still able to get some pictures of the goats walking high above the farm.             2nd day, bike ride at Founders Park Goats at Old Mc'Donald's Farm
