The Leaf Verde RV Park/Resort in Buckeye, AZ (3/4/21 to 3/6/21) Blog post 142

On 2/26/21 I placed an online reservation for the Leaf Verde rv park in Buckeye, AZ. My/our reservation was initially for only 3 days. 3/4/21-3/6/21 checking out on 3/7/21.

Immediately after booking the reservation, the manager of the park we were currently staying at, informed us that he in error booked us to leave the same day a permanent trailer is due to arrive by 9am. He refunded us 1 day and asked that we either leave anytime the day before or leave by 7 am on 3/4/21.  With my husband being injured, leaving by 7 am was not going to happen.

I immediately called Leaf Verde Park, and left a voicemail message at 1-623-241-8735 at 11:32 am and left approximately a 2 minute message, explaining that I needed to add 1 more day to my reservation.    I never received a callback!

When I did not hear back by the next day (Saturday 2/27/21), I went back and booked 3/3/21. In the remarks I put: please connect with reservation for 3/4/21.  I called Leaf Verde back, but the message said closed and closed on Sunday, so On Monday 3/1/21 @ 12:18 pm, this time calling 1-877-427-2250 (same voicemail message as the other number I called)  leaving another voicemail message, approximately 1 minute long, explaining my previous voicemail and to connect the reservation.   Again, I never received a callback, or even an email.

3/3/21 We arrived at the Leaf Verde RV park. I checked in with the lady that sits on the far right. She immediately gets our paperwork and tells me that we are only staying for 1 night. I proceeded to tell her how I had to book the reservation and how I left 2 voicemail messages and I never received any type of communication back. She proceeded to tell me that she could only check me in for 1 day and I would have to come back the next day to check in for that reservation. I told her, that is why I left multiple voicemails, so that I would not have to be told that I have to move my 44ft 5th wheel to another site. She then apologized, “I am sorry maam, you should have booked all the days together, and you would have saved money!”.   I again told her that is why I called and left 2 voicemail messages!   Again she apologized and then told me “Maam, I am just trying to help you!”. I am not sure what she said to me, but again I responded, “again, that is why I left 2 voicemail messages!”.   Her response was, “Maam, I have already apologized to you 4 times!”  At this point, I was beyond frustrated, My last response to her before, I bit my tongue, to not say another word, to this person, was “I never asked you for an apology”!  With not another word said between us for a very quiet and awkward 5 minutes, she then told me that she cancelled my 3/3/21 reservation and added 1 day to my 3/4/21 reservation, and that I would be receiving a $3.00 credit.   I am not sure why I was or had to be put through that!

We arrived to our site #330. Our neighbor in site 329 had their 2nd car parked where our picnic table and chairs would go. I left a voicemail at 9:10 with a request to have that neighbor move their car. 2 hours later (11:10) and nothing was done, my husband and I walked to the office and spoke with the lady on the far left. I explained that I left a voicemail. With no response to why my voicemail was not answered, just took down the information. It is now 2:30, and the car is still parked in the same spot. We have moved the picnic table as far as we possibly could without hitting their car.

So if I want to sit outside and eat, we have to sit next to each and stare at their car or move the picnic table next to the street. We have paid for our site just as everyone else has and are entitled to our space. The manager finally returned our call asking if he could come show us how the neighbor is in their space. When he came over he proceeded to count out with his feet that they get all the space from where there sewer is to where there car is blocking our space and we are entitled to the same space in the back where they have their children's toys and a huge mat. While we are arguing, the lady came out to move her car. I looked at him, and said that was all we were asking you to do.  But just a few hours later the ladies car was moved but another neighbor moved their truck to that spot. I was so upset with how we were treated, spoken to, and ignored, I wrote into Sun Communities and told them my story and requested that they refund us at least 1/2 of the money because we were not given the same space at others.

I did get 1/2 of the money back with many apologies from Corporate.

I have such a distaste for this place, that when it was the only park on my route, I just could not bring myself to book it.

The manager told us that where their picnic table, mat, and cornhole game is, is our space for our second vehicle!!!!

We had to push the picnic table almost touching the white car, just to get into our storage bay
